GIANT CARP CAUGHT IN AUSTRALIAN POOL AFTER FLOODS

In a bizarre twist on the usual aquatic invasion stories, a massive orange and white carp has been discovered swimming in a pool on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales, Australia.

The 300kg (661lb) fish was found by a group of friends who were cleaning up their backyard pool after recent flooding in the area. The friends claimed that the carp had somehow appeared out of nowhere, and they couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw its massive size.

“I was just raking up leaves from the pool deck when I saw this enormous fish swimming around,” said one of the friends, who wished to remain anonymous. “I thought it was a joke at first, but then I saw how big it was and realized it was for real.”

The carp, which has been identified as a golden dorado (Sciaenops ocellatus), is a relatively rare species in Australian waters. While they can be found in some freshwater lakes and rivers in the state, they are not typically associated with swimming pools.

“It’s definitely an unusual sighting,” said Dr. Jane Smith, a marine biologist at the University of New South Wales. “Carp are known to migrate long distances, so it’s possible that this one was swept up in the floodwaters and ended up in the pool.”

The carp’s orange and white coloring is not typical for the species, which usually has a more mottled brownish-gray appearance. However, Dr. Smith said that color variations can occur naturally due to genetic factors.

Despite its unusual origins, the carp appears to be healthy and well-fed, according to local authorities. The pool owners have been advised to treat the carp humanely and safely release it back into the wild, where it can try to find its way upstream to its natural habitats.

The discovery has sparked excitement among locals and pool enthusiasts alike, who are eager to learn more about the mysterious fish. As one resident joked, “Who knew our backyard pool was a hotspot for rare aquatic life?”

While the carp’s presence may be short-lived, its arrival in the Mid North Coast community is sure to leave a lasting impression on all who heard the news.
